This is great news. Despite not being a Tiger Woods fan I am a fan of this series and have bought a couple of these games in the past. Part of the appeal for me is playing real courses like TPC at Sawgrass and Pebble Beach through the game. Adding Augusta National to the list is a great step forward. Heck, it is the closest most of us will ever get to playing one of these courses!
According to the ESPN article the game goes on sale March 29th just before the 75th Masters tee off.
Augusta National Chariman, Billy Payne had this to say,
“Our desire to help grow the game of golf throughout the world is sincere, and it is that commitment that first led us to EA Sports more than three years ago, EA Sports, Tiger Woods and the PGA Tour have developed an extremely successful franchise that responds to one of the popular entertainment choices of kids today.”
“We hope our inclusion will foster an appreciation for the history and traditions of the Masters and inspire the next generation of golfers. Equally important is its ability to help further the mission of the Masters Tournament Foundation with the entirety of its proceeds.”
According to the ESPN article, 100% of the proceeds that the Masters receives will be given to the newly established “Masters Tournament Foundation”
Tiger Woods’ returns to the golf course on Thursday at The Masters. ESPN’s coverage starts at 4 PM Eastern tomorrow but they will air Tiger Woods’ tee shot at the first hole live at 1:42 PM on Sportscenter. While Woods has been away from the golf course his ability as a pitchman apparently hasn’t been tarnished that much, sales of Tiger Woods merchandise are actually up at Golfsmith this year.

Word going around is that he will be having a News Conference Friday at 11 AM eastern time from PGA Headquarters. Lets not get carried away though, reports are that he will not take questions from the Press at the event. Why even both doing this? Who on Team Tiger though this was a good idea? Just come out and answer questions. He’s going to have to end up doing one of these again anyways to answer questions, why not just get it over with? Once again a horrible job from Tiger Woods P.R team.
In a year when many are picking him to win the Grand Slam Tiger Woods began his quest with an even par 72 today in the first round. Who are you guys rooting for? Ever since Duval dropped off the map I’ve continued to be a big fan of the two lefties, Mickelson and Weir. When all is said and done this weekend I think Mickelson walks away with the Green Jacket.
As good as Tigers has been this year there is no way I can pick him to win the Grand Slam. The competition today is just too deep. I can actually see a scenario where he wins none of the 4 major championships this year. The fields seem to get deeper every year. Ogilvy is playing really well right now. Goosen has putted really well the past couple of tournaments. As much as I despise him Vijay is always a threat. Want a long shot? How about Aaron Baddeley, arguably one of the best putters on the tour. People have been talking about Justin Rose for a couple of years and even though he really hasn’t made much noise he was the only guy not named Tiger to finish in the Top 12 at all 4 events last year. Weir has won here. Couples is always a threat here. Weir and Zach Johnson have won in the past few years. I haven’t even begun to talk about the other 3 events yet.
I love the Masters. There always seems to be guys up on the leader board that usually don’t play much of a factor elsewhere. Mark O’Meara is 3 off the lead after one round. I can’t believe it was 10 years ago when he beat out one of my all time favorites (David Duval) to win the Green Jacket. Of course most people remember that Masters more for Jack Nicklaus finishing tied for 6th shooting 2 strokes better then Tiger. Leaderboard
So much for keeping updating this thing regularly. With school finally coming to a close there should be more posts here. Glad to see the Yanks struggling big time in the early going. Don’t have that much of a problem with the Angels at this point either other then the fact that Finley is proving why I hated that signing. I’m not too sure about Cabrera either. I didn’t want Tiger to win the Masters…..and definitely can’t believe that he did. Let’s just say that Kentucky Derby was odd. Now I didn’t want The Boss’ horse winning it…..but I definitely didn’t see this result coming. Glad to see Pakistan whoop the Indians. Nice to see UNC return to glory but definitely a little surprised to see them all leave for the NBA. No idea what the 9ers were thinking in picking Smith. I wanted one of the WRs and then wait for Leinart next year. I leave you with these words for the night…..
The dumbness of dumb people will never stop to amaze me…..who the hell can possibly be dumb enough to steal atleast one $250 paintball gun from someplace……get away with it…..and then come back half hour later just in time for the cops to be called on you?
